Do you ever feel itchy in your ears? I’m sure you do and this is something that’s very common. We always take care of our body parts but forget to clean our ears. When other body parts feel itchy, you can get rid of this sensation but what would you do if it’s inside your ear? Here we are going to discuss the reasons why it happens and how you can stop that.
Reasons why it happens:
1. When you have ultra sensitive neurological fibers
These neurological are the tiny fibers that line our inner ears and their increased sensitivity can lead to frequent feelings of itchiness.
2. Dry skin
It’s no secret that itchy dry skin feels terrible. When this is combined with a lack of natural ear wax, it can make our ears very dry and uncomfortable.
Swimmers tend to be in the high-risk category for developing itchy ears because water carries germs and fungus into the ear which can then lead to infection.
In warmer temperatures and humid climate, our ears are itchier. The increased water in the air raises your chances of developing an infection.
5. Other reasons
The most common causes are allergic reactions, ear infections, water in the ear, hearing aid or headphone induced irritation, and sometimes even psoriasis can trigger an itchy sensation in the ears.
How can you stop it
1. Warm oil
There are many oils that you can use to get rid of the itchy ears. You can use coconut oil, vegetable oil, olive oil or mustard oil. Just warm up some oil to a comfortable temperature. Take a dropper and put a few drops in your ears. Leave it for few minutes and once your wax is softened, you can use tissue or cotton to clean it.
2. Aloe vera
Place three or four drops of aloe vera into the ear. Allow it to rest there for several seconds before tipping it out. Aloe vera coats the inner ear and helps to restore pH levels back to normal. It also heals dry, itchy and irritated ears.
3. Alcohol and vinegar
One common method involves mixing one part rubbing alcohol with one part white vinegar. Take a cotton ball, soak it in the liquid and gently squeeze the cotton ball over your ear. Stay still and wait for few minutes. The alcohol vinegar will go to work on the infection and also help to clean your ear. Simply apply it once or twice a day until the infection has cleared.
4. Hydrogen peroxide
This treatment is too easy. Just mix equal parts of water and hydrogen peroxide. Place some of the solutions into the ears. Leave it for few minutes and clean the dripping liquid from ear using a cotton. This solution helps in getting rid of the itchy ears.
5. Warm compress
Applying a warm compress to the ears may help ease the pain of the infection.
